The other day I was sitting in my living room looking around my house at the seemingly endless amounts of things to do and finish. So instead of jumping right up and doing them, I did what any overwhelmed person would do...I got on my computer. At first I checked
Facebook, but quickly got tired of drama updates, went shopping on
Etsy, but a small voice reminded me I should save that money for home projects. Eventually I found myself in my photo album on my computer. I haven't organized that in a while so here is something productive I can do while reclining in my living room.
After I looked at some of the comparison pictures of my house, I was excited with how much I had gotten done. I went from overwhelmed to excited in a matter of minutes. I got motivated by simply looking through the pictures! Remember to look through your photos of all you have accomplished. Its just like the weight loss experts say, "TAKE BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS!" If you don't take pictures already, then START! It is the best way to remember where you started and where you are. Here are a few photos to keep you motivated:

This is my dining room the day we moved in. Hideous carpet everywhere! |
|
This is the same dining room after removing the carpet, removing the tacks, sweeping and mopping. Buddha loves to lay right in the middle so you have to pet him to get by. |
|
These cupboard are in the dining room. They have orange diamond textured plastic in the centers, ugh! (no I'm not kidding!) |
|
I went to a local glass store and had them cut glass to fit. Viola! Much better! By the way this project took me an hour to do all four cabinets once the glass was finished, super easy! |

These are the original handles |

These are the handles after spray painting black. |

This is the back bedroom on the day we moved in. |

This is after the remodel. We rewired and added outlets, stripped paint from windows and door, removed carpet and refinished the hardwood floors that were hiding, re-drywalled and painted entire room. |
As you can see, from just the pictures I have posted, we have done many projects big and small. They all have helped me grow as my own do-it-myselfer! I guarantee I have saved a TON of money by doing it myself!
Until next time!
